Windsor Bridge Birthday Celebrations
PHBC took some boats to the Windsor Bridge 140th birthday celebrations today... What a glorious sunny day for a peaceful relaxing little sail on the Hawkesbury River. We have a plan to do some more traversing of the Hawkesbury in the future.

PIRATES OF PLASTIC
PIRATES OF PLASTIC at a bay near you every week. Every Friday our friends from Miroma/Inala Myability Services help us pick up plastic in our harbour waterways. This week at the Pyrmont waterfront at the end of Harris St. Locals were happy to see us cleaning their little cove.

SECRET Scout Canoes
Over the summer months a group of our fellow boating enthusiasts at Inala / Miroma have unearthed a secret cache of boats. The work experience team from Inala / Miroma led by PHBC member Michael Bolton-Hall have been discovering the remains of two canoes believed to have been built in the 1960's. The colourful canoes found under the buildings of a community hall in Bellevue Hill overlooking Double Bay on Sydney Harbour are in remarkably good condition. Some deductions and an inquiring letter to Afloat magazine revealed the Scout Canoes builders are still around and the two teams will get together and tell their stories before displaying the canoes at the Wooden Boat Festival during August in Sydney. Inala / Miroma also choose the do recreational boating activities with PHBC and the crew are becoming able seaman and able seawoman.

PHBC visits Lake Macquarie BoatFest for Easter
Members again ventured north to display our
heritage boats at Lake Macquarie Boatfest 2014 and have been since 2000. Again the historic 1950’s built 16’
Skiff ‘Sweet Sixteen’ was sailed throughout the weekend in ideal light
conditions. The Skiff attracted
some interest about the builder and general history of the boat. We have attached a video extract of
some reminiscing from local knowledge on our Facebook site.

Renaming Ceremony Update
Two days till our Renaming Ceremony!
Preparations are well underway and it looks like we’ve attracted the attention of some real life Vikings! Mitch Luke and his friends (from the medieval reenactment group, Iron guard) will be travelling down from the Blue Mountains this Thursday to attend the ceremony. They are sure to add a touch of authenticity to the event in their full Viking costume, beards and all!

Renaming Ceremony Update
Nine days and counting till the Viking longship renaming ceremony, SAGA ETERNITY.
Whether rain, hail, lightning or shine the ceremony will be held on the 20th of March, 6pm till 8pm, during the Autumnal Equinox. Who knows, a big weather event could make a true connection between the longship and the environment - a fitting beginning to the Aegir's enVironmental mission (the capital v is for Viking!). Our Artistic Director/President Anna is finalising the banner design as we speak - below is a sneak preview. This will be the banner that everyone will be invited to sign on the evening. Promises to be a fun event. Bring a picnic!
